The race runs
on the clock.
At midday, the field begins. Every 15 minutes, everyone who remains starts another 1 km lap. There are 99 laps. At the end of each lap, the last runner across the line is out.

The long night.
Johannesburg in February is midsummer and rainfall season. Expect warm days, the possibility of afternoon thunderstorms, and a real temperature drop overnight for anyone still on course. These are the conditions the race may ask you to meet.

The exact venue will be announced closer to race day. The course design, drone flight paths and production logistics all need to align before it is confirmed. Parking, spectator access and accommodation information will be published with the venue announcement.

Who can enter?
You must be 18 or older on race day. There are no exceptions.
How does entry work?
Everyone joins the ordered queue for R99. On 1 October, the first 99 will be invited to pay the R900 balance within 48 hours.
Is my entry refundable?
The R99 queue fee is nonrefundable. Confirmed entrants may receive up to 80% of R999 if they withdraw before 1 December 2026. No self-substitution is allowed.
What if everyone is out before a winner emerges?
There is no winner and no prize. A winner exists only when exactly one runner remains.
Can non-runners watch?
Yes. The full race will be livestreamed. In-person spectator information will follow when the venue is announced.
